Lately I’ve been experimenting with goth inspired makeup, and this has awakened a further interest and admiration for the gothic look. I’ve never held on to one single style of clothes, but I can tell you it has never been described as gothic. I now wish to mix things up further, by trying on this new style hat.
An other element to this blossoming obsession is the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo trilogy. I loved the books, the original films and I’m (not so) patiently waiting for the second film of the American trilogy. Lisbeth Salander’s character is excellent, a modern day super hero and my new idol. She shows us how despite everything one can choose to overcome the most impossible of challenges or attacks and come out swinging like a badass in every sense of the word.
Perhaps the final reason why ( you see I love to psychoanalyze myself ) I am being drawn to the dark side, is the over saturation of pre chewed, pre packaged commercial products. No I don’t consider these products ‘artists’. Don’t get my wrong I will get up and dance like a nobodies business if Barbie Girl comes on, but all these manufactured acts are less of a sugar rush and more cringe inducing. I have dealt with these one way frustrations by tuning to some old favorites from Epica to The Cure, Zola Jesus and more. This music oozes with emotion, whilst some of the top 40’s catchy as hell lyrics act are just plain sappy.
These are some fun pieces from one of my favorite shops, NastyGal They are all available right now, all under 45 USD!!
The LBD is a master adapter, this clothing item can take you from day to night, casual to formal. It is a the best partner in crime. I’ve worn my LBDs to every occasion under the rainbow, some have taken me to school (but not right away) to the club; others from a nice dinner, to a night out hitting the pubs. Its vacuum of color leaves room to make the dress your own, you can accessories like crazy and get away with it, since it is the ultimate
black blank canvas. —————————————————————————————————————————————-

The first set of pictures were taken in my old boarding school in Aix-en-Provence, right before the beginning of summer. When I was looking through them I instantly began thinking of all the great times in La Cote d’azur, this beautiful region is like heaven on earth. I miss windy Marseilles, the glorious Monaco, picturesque Cannes, and the lively Aix. All these places will always be dear to my heart and that in its self is a bigger blessing that I could ever ask for.
* I’m wearing the ZARA skorts, a vintage lingerie top, a Ralp Lauren Men’s shirt and thigh high boots from Nasty Gal
7th grade too passed, but not before gifting me the holly grail… Gossip Girl. Then we moved back to Florida and my prep had clearly evolved, I wore those Blair inspired oversized bow headbands with my new short bob. Eventually my prep wore down (thank god) but now I look at this trend with both fondness and caution, a bow easily goes from cute to … well not.
Words of wisdom from the lady herself,
“ Here’s my advice. Have a little faith, and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of mimosas.” -Blair Waldorf
Around five years ago I started really noticing the house of Emilio Pucci, and that appreciation has grown into near obsession as the years have progressed. Up until that point I never really paid much attention to Italian houses except for Dolce & Gabbana and Prada of course, but Pucci opened my eyes; and Milan fashion week suddenly became one of my favorites! Now as I have grown up, I have taken some of the very Italian aspects of dressing into my own style; I admire how feminine and sexy women dress. Looking at some of these pieces they resemble flamboyant armor instead of practical clothes, and that is what fashion is supposed to be, well at least this fashion. These clothes are not prudent but instead functional fuel for the spirit and soul.
When I first read The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo I was addicted to the series from the gecko, it is a fast pas novel filled with up’s and down’s, twists and turns you didn’t see coming; and in the heart of the story there is the young and independent Lisbeth Salander. She is girl power at its core. I have seen the original Swedish film version and the only American film ( I really hope they make the rest), and I loved all of them! I find the films very stylish and sexy, even thought they are disturbing at times. This was specially true when Lisbeth throughs away all the fine clothes and accessories she bought for her different disguises, “please don’t do it! Keep them you’ll never now when you’ll want to wear them!” I said to my self when she heartlessly flushed her diamond bracelet down the drain; and that ladies and gentlemen is why she is the one and only Salander, the amazing who hacked millions while the rest us would only keep buying more “disguises”.
Salander’s style is fairly far from my own but I can appreciate it, and we can all water it down to fit us better.
