Trends :Prep it up!

Prep it up
I remember my ten year old self admiring my older sister who was going through her tween days. Her crisp pink Lacoste polo looked so pristine, but then she elevated her look when she ‘popped the collar’. So taken my this preppy look I (unlike my friends) didn’t mind that the upcoming school year ,as a middle school freshman,  would have a strict polo dress code. All the kids complained while I was secretly giddy.
6th grade went by and I enjoyed some fashion hits but endured my fair share of misses. THEN our parents told my sisters and me that we were going to move back to Mexico City. I was shocked, however my mom then mentioned we were going to an all girls catholic school. The ultimate preppy dream! I couldn’t believe my luck, who needs friends when you can sport an awesome pleated skirt?
Prep the Sequel

7th grade too passed, but not before gifting me the holly grail… Gossip Girl. Then we moved back to Florida and my prep had clearly evolved, I wore those Blair inspired oversized bow headbands with my new short bob.  Eventually my prep wore down (thank god) but now I look at this trend with both fondness and caution, a bow easily goes from cute to … well not.
